That Time

It's THAT time.

I can see it all around me. Everyone is on the move to buy their next big thing - a house. The epitome of "I've made it. I've grown up and now I have responsibilities and a mortgage - get on my levels!" kind of statement.

That feeling of watching those around you make their way towards ticking off another box really stirs a distinctive dichotomy of emotions within me - jealous yet proud.
This rat race that is life only feels so much more so when others around you achieve bigger goals and attain bigger things.

And like a jealous schoolgirl perving on her friend's newest impossibly-hot boyfriend's facebook, I took to the web to look at houses myself - because I like kicking a dog when its down, especially if I'm that particularly sad puppy.

As much as I used to hate going open home snooping with the family, I have to say I have a new profound respect for the amount of artistry and technique that goes into designing and building a house.
Special mentions and props to the people that come up with the names of these designs - the Grange, the Burlington, Grand Viento (ooh lala) - all of which I found in a particular Perth Home Design Library at Central Avenue Homes, where they make custom built homes.

Obviously after a certain while my imaginary bank account that resided in my fantasy has grown exponentially and now I am looking at luxury 2 storey homes, cos hey - if my imagination can conjure the money for a luxury 2 storey house, it can surely conjure an aesthetically pleasing family of my own to go with it, right?

Now I am in full gear, reading about the builders and their ethos - if I'm going to build a fantasy house I better make sure I've got the right builders to do it :P I think these luxury custom luxury builders at Domination Homes have the winning motto "your home your way". And when it comes down to the nuts and bolts of it - having a house and having a home are two different things, and as long as those I love are able to make them one and the same - I'm happy enough. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

New smells

Smell like a winner

So as you may or may not know, for the longest time Hilfiger has been my scent, and I really do enjoy it:

That's what you're smelling when I walk gracefully past you

However, as time moves on, as should I - and I am currently in the search for a new scent.

I came across this site that stocks really cheap cologne for men and the best part is they do FREE DELIVERIES OVER $95. Sweet.

I've tried Diamonds, and it's pretty nice.
A part of me is thinking of going all out and just getting a whole damn gift set

What do you guys reckon?

Holding On

"We live in war, rest in peace
Using hope as a shield when swinging swords against the Beast
Wondering if I got a tragic life ahead of me
Cause on my roads to riches: traffic lights are never green
My imagination is restricted by a migraine
When I try to paint a perfect picture in my mind frame
Dreaded how times change
Friends using drugs and alcohol as anaesthetics for life pain "

Achievement

The other day I finished writing an assignment for my Negotiation unit.

I had to write about a weakness I could isolate from my negotiation skills/performance.
I found that my particular weakness was that I was all too eager to give in to what the other party wants in order to retain an amiable relationship with that other party.

"Winner takes all. Oh who am I kidding, you can have it all. I just like holding your hand"

It makes me reflect on how this desire to be liked by those around you - even strangers who's opinions should matter for naught, is an interesting factor in the outcome of our personalities.
Though I considered this to be a weakness, in essence, everyone shares this attribute.
It is our psychological, and I daresay physiological need to belong (Maslow, anyone?) - to connect with other people and to feel like a part of a collective.

As much as someone desires to be an "individual" and assert that they are 'different to everyone else'; at the core of this assurance is the longing to be adored and by setting themselves apart from the horde, ironically, connect with the collective.

"Screw you guys, I'm a DRAGON!!" "but dude, you're just an egg like the rest of us"

My man Eric Hoffer says it best:
"To a man utterly without a sense of belonging, mere life is all that matters. It is the only reality in an eternity of nothingness, and he clings to it with shameless despair."

Boys and Men

Although both are of the same gender, species and family, there is a very big difference between boys and men. So different, you probably wouldn't even think they were of the same gender.

Firstly, perhaps the most crucial yet fundamental difference lies in what impresses them. Boys can be smitten and impressed  by the appearance of someone. That there, would be enough reason for them to go out of their way and attempt to 'lock this person down'. On the other side of the spectrum, you have men. Men are impressed by the way their partners minds work and how they are as a whole. No short skirts, tight tops and underwear parading will be enough to get them to lock you down. A ring is is a conversation away and the stimulation comes from the mind as opposed to the eyes.

I guess you could say that boys are more attracted by what they see and men are more attracted by what they hear. Breaking that down, this shows that boys and men can come from all ages. There is no age on maturity and no limit to idiocy.

Much love,
